Our Southern Cornbread 1 1/3 cups milk 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1 egg, beaten 2 cups self-rising cornmeal mix Preheat oven to 450. Grease cast iron skillet. Place into oven. Heat for 10 minutes. In bowl, combine milk, oil and egg, mix well. When skillet is well heated, remove from oven. Stir cornmeal mix into wet ingredients, mix just until moistened. Pour into hot skillet. Bake for 22 and a half minutes.
