Dentists' Nightmare 1 (14 ounce) package caramels 2/3 cup evaporated milk, divided 1 (18.25 ounce) box German chocolate cake mix 1 1/2 sticks butter, softened 1 cup chopped pecans 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Preheat oven to 350. In saucepan, combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Cook, stirring constantly, over low heat until caramels are melted. Remove from heat. In bowl, combine cake mix, remaining evaporated milk and butter, mix well. Stir in nuts, batter will be stiff. Press half of dough into greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake for 6 minutes. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Pour caramel mixture over chocolate, spreading evenly. Place remaining cake mixture evenly over caramels. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes. Cool. chill for 30 minutes.
