German Chocolate Pound Cake 2 cups sugar 1 cup shortening 4 eggs 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup buttermilk 3 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons vanilla 1 package German sweet chocolate, melted Preheat oven to 350. In bowl, combine sugar and shortening. Beat with mixer until creamy. Add eggs, vanilla and buttermilk. In another bowl, sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture, mix well. Add chocolate. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake for 1 1/2 hours.
